Changing owner name on camera on PC

Have just received the Canon Solutions disc today (didnt get when bought 2nd hand) Now iv just connected the 2, first of all an error message came up saying 'Failed to communicate with camera, check connection'
Why would this be?
Also, it lets me open up the program that I installed off the disc, where abouts is it that I change the owner name?

I presume it is the correct version for your camera, might be worth checking on Canon's web. Have you tried uninstalling the software and re-installing it and don't forget you'll probably need to pause your anti-virus before you install as this can stop certain files being writen - mine played all sorts of games when I was trying to install the latest DPP.
 
Have you connected the camera to the PC with the white lead?

rm.. im not sure, possibly not.. How do I know what version is for my camera? Il try installing again without the anti virus, though the programs all seem to work ok when I open them, it just says the error about the camera, which leads me to believe I might need a newer version?

White lead? Nah was a black one that came with the camera.. though it seems to work ok I think?

Does the camera show up as connected to the PC?

Hey Jim, I totally forgot about this thread. And havent had the camera out in the last few days.
Just hooked it up to the Mac there, and it is now recognising the camera :thumbs:
Now what do I use to change the user details?

In fact just had a play around there and have found it.
