Hello,

I am looking at changing my domain name and logo, watermark etc as i want it to be a bit more professional. At the moment i am jsut building up a portfolio but want it to seem more professional so if something does come around i may have a chance at some work.

At the moment my site is www.tyler138.com i am think of changing to something like tylerphotography.com but think its a bit long winded, or tylerphotos.com, but a bit unsure, any ideas on what to use..?

Also myname.co.uk is taken by a 12 year old go carter so i cant use that :(

Any other ideas or anything would be great.

Choose your business name, then check if the domains .co.uk and .com are available. Then register them. You need to be careful though, it's surprising what's in a name. For example, I would say that ...photos.co.uk sounds whole lot less professional than ...photography.co.uk. ;)

Yeh thats what iam think but thought photography would be a bit long winded.

They can waste there money and i will think of a new one, haha. Just changed the post incase,

Mines ...images.co.uk as all the ...photography.co.UK ones I wanted were taken

Same here. All permutations of [myname]photography/photos/etc were taken by the same photographer.

I have quite a common name though (who else can say they have a Tory MP and former Aston Villa striker sharing their name).
 
again mine is imagesby... but I always wanted photography ones which were taken, there has been a couple now available which I have but still use the first brand I started
 
or you can just make up a word.. doesnt have to be your name.. something short and catchy.. doesnt even have to inc the word photogrpahy or anything like that..

put the very generic phrase "sports photography" into google .kipax.com has been in the top ten for years ..

All i am saying is dont get too hung up about the name needing to be descriptive.. :)
 
how much access have you got to your hosting? DO you have access to a control panel such as Plesk or cPanel where you can add domain aliases? If so, pointing your new domains at your current web space should be pretty straight forward, if not you might have to contact the hosting company and ask them to add those domains as aliases.

After that, all you will have to do is update the nameservers for the new domains to the same settings as your current domain and viola, after the change has had some time to propagate, all your domain names will point to your website.

Yeh, i just didnt want the numbers after it, will still be using that tyler138.com domain but it will just be forwarded to my new domain.
