Cheap Lens

Sounds too good to be true so probably is! I would want to see receipts for the lens from the supplying dealer and would want to check the serial numbers against any lists of stolen items. I would also want to do any deal in a public place with witnesses and possibly some backup. OK, the transport could cost a bit but think of the saving you may make on the lens!

Cheapest I've seen that lens new is about £5200 so if it's legit it's a bargain for someone! I think I'd have to be holding it in my hands before I completely believed it but maybe the guy just really needs some cash and is willing to sell it cheaply.

If he bought it a little while ago before the prices rose, and maybe bought it second hand at the time then maybe he paid £3k for it? Been trying to flog it for a while so he's dropped the price to £2.2k?

I get the feeling that if you do a bit of digging you'll find that lens/those pictures for sale elsewhere, probably on a photography forum or Ebay and probably in the US. This "seller" will more than likely be in Italy......

The wording in this listing for a Nikon lens looks familiar

It's a scammer. Probably the same one that spams gumtree all the time.

You have to be VERY careful to make any trades on Gumtree or Craigslist. I have done, but only with face-to-face cash transactions, checking goods before handing over the money, and only meeting in a public place in daylight.
