I noticed that Calumet in their London store on Monday had some Manfrotto 390 straps - the type where the canvas carrying loop fits over the centre column for only £1...... might be suitable or could be adapted to fit your tripod?
I use an old, ajustable shoulder strap. Clip one end to the bracket thingy, and then loop the other end round the legs and tighten, worked for me for over 12 months! Cost, nowt!
Ditto - total cost zero...
I went and asked the IT guys at work if they had any old laptop bags I could nick a strap from and they obliged.
It wouldn't clip into the top of my Manfrotto 055 as the strap was too chunky, but a cable tie solved that one.
And as already mentioned, a loop around the bottom of the legs works a treat; I used an old nylon trouser belt cut down to the right length.
After much abuse the cable tie at the top of the legs broke. Luckily I was on the sea shore and within minutes found a bit of fishing net nylon just the right thickness and length - it's perfect (apart from being bright green)
I use an old camera strap on mine - one end is fastened to the bracket thing, the other is tied round one of the legs by the lock so it doesn't slide about while being carried.
