Christened but not religous.

I agree with whoever said it's the same as when couples get married in church yet aren't religious - there's lots of things that contribute - family tradition and the weight of the rest of your family's expectation can play a part in it, as can hedging your bets, lol.
I don't really see a problem with it - if the church is happy to perform the service (and presumably the vicar will know that he's not regularly seeing these people for Sunday services), then what's the harm?

On the other hand, I would have a problem if a friend who was getting their child christened asked me to be godparent - as an atheist it would seem somehow disrespectful to lie in church. However, that is probably down to indoctrinated belief from my own church going days rather than logic.
