Clarification on RAW

Hi,

I did try searching before this, but I didn't know how to word the search, therefore nothing came up.

When editing a JPEG in Lightroom the other day, I realised it had a lot of artifacts after editing things such as contrast, saturation etc.

If I shot RAW, edited all of this then exported to JPEG, would that stop the loss of quality?

Yes, but make sure that you save the highest quality jpg.

Every time you save a JPEG, you add artifacts. A couple of times is okay, but if you are saving the image every time you make an adjustment - and I guess you could end up doing this dozens of times as you beaver away - then you'll wreck it!
