Does anybody know if Cokin produce a 10 stop filter for the A series of filters, if not does anybody know of one that will fit into the A series holder?

Many Thanks

Cokin themselves don't produce 10 stop filters, it's Lee and Hitech who make P series/Lee sized 10 stop filters and Hoya produce a 10 stop screw in filter. Its unlikely that you'll find a 10 stop in A size as A size is TBH not as popular as P size because it only supports a max of 62mm lens filter ring size and a 10 stop is still a pretty professional piece of kit. Buy a P Sized filter holder/rings and then get a Cokin A-P adapter so you can use your A size filters and then get a P sized 10 stop. Easy.

BTW, I wouldn't bother with Cokin ND filters, their nortorious for producing a magenta colour cast.

What filters would you recommend as I am looking to buy a new set soon, my A series are a good 8 years old now so it could be a good time to get some new ones.

It depends on how much you want to spend, if you want the 'best' then go with Lee filters but they are also the most expensive. For middle of the road stuff, I would get a P-Series system like the A-Series but bigger and as I said above you can get an adapter to use A-Series filters with it.

So you'll need a filter holder, the standard one holds 3 slot in filters and rotating polariser and works down to 28mm (35mm equivalent) lenses without vigenetting, or if your using wider lenses than that there is wide angle holder that holds 1 filter and works down to below 20mm.
Then of course you'll need the adapter rings to fit your lenses.

Filter wise, there are P filters by Cokin, Kood and Hitech. Cokin stuff (apart from NDs and ND Grads) is fine as are Kood ones which don't have the ND problem.

SRB Griturn sell their own line of filters and these are actually by Hitech who have quite a good reputation and and are much less expensive than Lee filters. My ND grads by them are fine with no cast as I have verified by shooting on slide film. Plus they do a 10 stop in P size:

Please note that I am no expert on filters, I am just going on what has worked for me.

Many thanks for the information, I will take a look at the SRB Griturn stuff.
