Hello all,

I am quite new here and quite new to photography, I have been getting some advice on a few of the pics I have ook from friends and the recuring theme appears to be around the colours.

I am partially colour blind, they call it red green however I can differentiate between those fine. Are there any other colour blind people that do their own editing here and if so do you "auto colour", ask people, or do what looks right to you?

Thanks in advance.

Colour blindness doesn't mean you can't see the colours but that you don't see the contrast. So a red poppy in a field wouldn't stand out against the grass. There are other types of colour blindness but red/green is the most common. If you're in doubt about colours when editing the easiest thing to do is check the RGB values to see if a colour is more red or green.

Posting an example shot here that you felt was ok but other people had concerns about might be useful too.

On a related note is your monitor calibrated and are you using a colour managed workflow? It could simply be down to that...

Hi
I am also colour blind and happily edit my own pics. Not had anyone tell me they are incorrect so far. It would depend on the degree of colour blindness though I guess. Mine was supposedly bad enough for them to advise not working in telecommunications due to the wiring using many close shades (so studied Electronics & Telecoms for a career :p). I have had the odd problem identifying a resistor value from the colour bands on a resistor if the resistor body is blue though!

Maybe we should specialise in b&w photography? ;)

Thanks for the responses,
I am pleased to see someone else went against the advise of not going in to telecomms and ignored it also.

I will start to post some pictures on here once I get some that I am happy with and look forward to any comments that will help.

My monitor is calibrated so will see what happens.
