OCF - Off Camera Flash

FFS - When things go wrong

You have AP and SP, but Canon list these as AV and TV
Aperture Value and Time Value

if TTL is through the lens what is E-TTL?

Evaluative Through The Lens. It's Canon's flash metering mode.

ETTL can also mean expose to the left, or "expose for the shadows". The modern day equivalent for digital is ETTR - expose to the right "for the highlights".

A common one on here 'SWMBO' She who must be obeyed, yes, I've got one of them too :nono::LOL:

This may be a stupid question - so sorry in advance!!

What does "tog" stand for? Here is what context it is in -

http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=46944

As I was going to put my details up to hopefully meet some people near me to show me a few things, as I am very new to photography, but didn't want to just incase tog means I'm some sort of expert!!

PhoTOGrapher, just a shorter way of saying it.

A) PhoTOGrapher!

Or B) TOGtherness for lonely PhoTOGraphers.

Or C) Thermal Resistance (phoTOGraphers who defy the cold weather)

You choose.:)

Thanks guys - at least I now know it's safe for me to put my details on there!

Karl.

What about Bump? I see it in the classifieds....Bump. To me this means you have just dropped the product you are selling :). But what does it mean on the forums?

A thread 'bump' brings the thread back to the top of the said subforum, onto page 1.

It may be in classifieds, general or elsewhere - its simply to return the thread to the top of the page so that it doesn't fade away over the passing hours/days.

Typically everyone starts reviewing the most recent threads first, then scrolls down that particular forum. So if you have your thread at the top, or at least on page 1, it has more chance of being reviewed.

Haha, I'm liking the not-so-serious ones here!
Also, thanks for posting the serious ones, very useful little guide for everyone
Everyone loves a good acronym :p

I note that according to your list:-

MB = Megabytes and GB = Gigabytes

but I frequently come accross Kb and more recently Tb which aren't in your list.

What are they and should they not be included?
