Hi can anyone recomend a decent compact camera for my brother inlaw. He is looking to spend about £250 on one to use at christmas and when he goes on his carabean cruise(lucky get) in Feb

Panasonic DMC-TZ7 is a great compact imo; 25 - 300 mm Leica lens (35mm equiv), HD vid recording etc

Another alternative, similar price, not as good HD Video capabilities, but does have manual control (which the panasonic lacks) is the canon SX200 IS, and there's a £40 cash back offer on at the moment. Best price amazon £218 (red), or £232 (other colours)

I have had 2 Canon Ixus's and have liked them both.They are always bringing a new one out so I dont know what the latest one is like.
