Computer memory upgrade

Help please i really am a novice at this, i have a 1gb memory in my computer and i want to double it my motherboard has 4 slots Yellow/Blue/Yellow/Blue, my i gb stick is in the first Yellow slot my question is does the second one go into the second slot which is Blue or do i put it in the other Yellow slot, below are photos of the slots and my memory stick thank you i would be very grateful for your answers:thinking:

It goes in the second yellow slot (this makes your PC run in dual channel mode)

Define "a lot". Yes, it will be faster, but if you're processing images of any size, 2Gbytes will not be enough and you'll still spend all your time paging out to disk (you'll know this is happening if the disk is constantly chattering away if you do anything on the PC).

What is the rest of the system (CPU/motherboard/disk)?
 
Nick onto the Crucial website and let them recommend memory.

I doubt that just another 1 gig is worthwhile though.

The mobo only has a FSB of 1066 and a maximum DDRII alocation of 667mhz so it may be an older spec that can only accept 2GB ram max (a bit like my mobo).

2BG can be enough to process large image files though. When I move from the 1000D to the 50D I thought my PC would have a hairy fit, especially when working with TIFF's , but it's been fine.
 
1gb of DDR400 isn't going to break the isn;t going to break the bank. And relative to the system it should provide a noticable improvement for anything that uses a lot of memory. Obviuosly not a permanent solution to an old rig but every little helps :)
