Cyberbegging - photography

No not always,if both of you just want a few shots, but if you are aiming to get work from your portfolio,to me,for the photographer,or the model it's alway best to make an investment in your future, and if that mean having to pay,I will do,if you all think their somthing wrong with that

That's my way :)

So you'd be happy if the model paid the tog £100 and the tog handed the £100 back again.

Good, glad we sorted that out :bonk:

Simon, no-one is saying you shouldn't pay for a model/photographer but you were the one criticising those who don't. You asked why she shouldn't pay the photographer and people explained that, where both parties benefit, it's perfectly acceptable.

No I am not saying that,if I was looking to add some model shots to my portfolio,to gain some work I would paid a good model the going rate to get the photos I needer,I would not get paid anything, but by using a good model I would hope to get work,by taking my portfolio around.

And the same for the model,if she wanted to get some great shots for her portfolio, she would pay to invest in getting the shots she needer for her to gain some work.
:)

.... so if you BOTH wanted it neither would have to pay  :bonk:

So basically in the model/photographer scenario it's you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours. Not really a story there.

Once you get going you are not expected to do hundreds of portfolios for nothing. If you are good enough they pay you but we are talking about that little point where you are maybe or nearly good enough and want some practice portfolio shots and the model maybe starting out and wants some shots for her portfolio. In that instance you probably wouldn't pay each other.

I did a few such shoots for models when I set my studio up and we have both benefitted but I wouldn't do it now unless it was one of my daughters friends or a relative etc.

I know it sound confusing, but the dancer did say she wanted a good portfolio,in the hope of gaining work,so to me it would worth the investment,to get the shots.

I have been round a few model agents, and they all say the amount of bad portfolio they get every day, most of them are just sent back or dump in the bin believe me.
If your hoping to gain work, sometimes it require an investment.

Years ago putting my own portfolio together,to get jobs didn't come cheap,I was not rich by any means,so I had to save hard & work hard to get it together, but I got some good jobs thought my portfolio,so to me it was worth the investment .
:)

The begging approach is nothing new though is it? There's always been this type of advert in the back of Private Eye.
As for the photography, it's just TFP. Nothing new

So answer me this (as I try to frame the same question again)... why is it in the "glamour" section of TP its seems universally approved to shoot TFP, whereas everywhere else this concept appears to be deemed as a form of apostasy which can only be dealt with by stoning to death?

Because for the tits'n'ass GWC it's cheaper than buying porn?

I think I would agree with this comment - after all the principals of the arrangement have been going on for ….well nearly ever, the only new angle is the vehicle used, social networking sites, which after all is only the modern equivalent of physical notice boards in shops, schools etc; etc and networking via friends of friends, of friends!!

You may not agree with it but it’s happening in every walk of lift, my neighbour had an extension built based on the exchange of services/skills.

There's nothing wrong with this at all, providing both/all the parties are comfortable with the arrangement. Nobody is being forced to do anything against their will.

I think there is an issue with people being almost encouraged to beg. So you will get to see more and more of it.

But there you see another wearing away of things, not taht long ago we were being encouraged to haggle.

Next step............theiving's ok?

I needed to convert a temperature the other day so I put into Google "convert 500 f to c" (I'm sure it used to work). It took me to a site where somebody had asked the question and the crowd had guesses at the answer. You could vote for the one you though "most accurate".

Should be easier to download a unit converter app for your phone than googling it, I've just done one in 2 minutes flat for about 40 different unit types.

Some people are already there, seemed to be a lot of people quite happy to nick stuff during the riots and quite happy to boast abut it. Though I suppose that's the media edited version so you can never be totally sure it's a fair representation.
