D3000 upgrade?

Hey my uncle has dropped his nikon d3000 and wants to buy a new body. Thing is he only uses it when walking the dog or on holiday (has the kits lens & 70-300vr). Asked me what to upgrade it to, he's thinking d5200 or d7100, I told him to just get another d3000 (If I can still get them new)?

But it did get me thinking if I ever upgrade what would b a good jump up (I have the d3100). I don't think the d5200 is worth it, so would the d7100 ( I'm just thinking of new models) b about rite or is there another model I should look at?

D7000 without a doubt.

Id recommend the D3100/3200, D5100 or D7000 well over just getting another D3000.

For my uncle I don't see much point for him he uses it like a compact really. But I think he'll go for the d3100 like mine as its quite cheap now (can't be leave I payed 480 for mine).

As for me I think in a yr or so I'll b lookin at the d7100, if I can get one that works, heard there's an issue with sum?

Maybe hed be better off getting a decent compact like a Fuji X10 or Lumix LX7 then?

In a years time a D7000 would probably be much cheaper and more than capable still.
