Anyone know or have any opinion of if/when the D700 might be replaced and what new features it will have?!?

I'm on the verge of ordering a D700 and I know as soon as I do the D700x/D800 or whatever it may be will be released the week after!!!

Don't want to hold on forever but would be gutted to miss out on the latest model!

What doesn't the D700 do that you think the replacement/upgrade will do? Will the extra features be worth the extra cost over the "basic" D700? It's possible that prices for the "basic" D700 will drop slightly if/when the upgrade is released but it's also possible that prices will again rise.

My D700x turned out to be the Sony A900.

A 24 megapixel res. D700 is inevitable, and will be sooner rather than later unless the chap running the marketing dept. is the same joker who conceived the 85mm VR DX...
