Hi, having a bit of a dilemma, I have a D60 at the mo and looking to upgrade it. I had my heart set on a D90 but there are a couple of D200's for sale on here for less £££'s.
Should I gofor a D200 or wait until funds allow the D90

Regards David

Go for the D90 imo. Thats what I'm going to get because although the D200 is a cracking camera the extra you pay for a D90 buys you a lot. New sensor, video (not that bothered but better to have it than not), sensor cleaning, much, much better at higher ISO and its newer. just my opinion and I'm sure many will disagree but there you go.

Of the 2 options above go for the D200 save the money you have left towards decent glass, the D200 is a semi pro body capable of stunning pictures, don't forget its you that has to see the picture not the camera. The low light capabilaties of the new sensor would be benificial if you take most of your pictures in that situation but if not you'll probably never notice. I've cleaned my sensor once in 12 months so would you benefit so much from dust removal? and as for video buy a video camera if you want the best quality to me its more of a gimmick. At the end of the day though what do you want? If I was in your situation I would consider a D300 now rather than change again 12 months if you can raise the extra pennies.

Personally I would buy a nice S/H D200 from the classifieds for way less ££££s and a warranty to boot ;) Although I am slightly biased!

Given the choice of D90 or D200 to buy now, I'd go for the D90 - much newer technology and much better high ISO performance. But I also agree that you should wait and get the D300 :D

Save for the D300 if you can't wait get the D90

I have the D90 and have just got an 18 x 12 enlargement back. Given the light was poor and I had shoot at 320 ISO, the result was really impressive. Its a great camera, and by all accounts way ahead of the D200 at higher ISOs.

Who really needs a pro body? do we take pictures or hit people with our cameras?!!!
