Hi

Sorry another question. I have bough a usb cable and can connect my d90 to my laptop and shoot tethered but the images are not being saved to the sd card, just being uploaded to the laptop.

Having a quick read online it looks like an issue for the old Nikons, any else find this issue with the D90 or is there a way round this?

Thank you

Kev

Kinda normal as your files are saved to your computer…where you will take them ultimately!
None of my files are saved on the cards in a tethered session.

Thank you, but as a backup I would prefer for it to be written to SD card as well.

Then, this is admitting that I don't use LR nor windows, you may chose to backup
your session to an other folder but it CAN'T BE on the card in a tethered session.

Believe this is something to do with Nikon's SDK and Adobe not feeling the need to code around it. AFAIK Canon users can tether and save to CF / SD card.

This would be surprising to me as many of my mentorees are Canon users
and none has found a way to do this… but, as always, I'm eager to learn!

Just happened to be watching, Rick Sammon, on Kelbyone and he mentioned saving to SD card whilst tethering into Lightroom. You're probably correct though.

Seems a bit silly, not to allow users to save to CF / SD card, whilst tethering

Thanks, this is what I had read but wanted to make sure if I was missing something.

Some Canon cameras and some Olympus cameras can save to the camera and a laptop in a tethered session.

Not really!
I shoot tethered sessions on my MBP 17" in studio where files may go to trash,
be flagged or rated, and the result of that session goes to my MacPro in my
office via CF and card writer/reader. Once transferred to my HD, I can go on at
the same point I left the studio. Had the session been saved to a card, I would
have to start all over again.
Some Canon cameras…
Would you know which models?

Thanks Pete, that confirms everything!

This is a limitation of LR as alternative you can use Capture One or a free alternative digiCamControl

Thanks, will check it out. Any idea if there is a osx version worth looking at?

I use Capture One 9 Pro For Sony, at £40 it is a steal, for you poor Canikon users it is about £240, there is a free version but it does not support tethering.

I've used Capture One Pro for tethering Nikons for a long time and have never found a way to save images to the camera's internal cards as well as the laptop HD... If you can I'd love to know how!?
