Any one got one ? Are they any good? Apparently new 2.2 upgrade coming soon ........... any comments greatly received ...

Sorry, I haven't got one, but I considered one before I got my Desire HD. So the 2.2 upgrade is still coming soon?

I read of a couple of cases of the screen cracking... maybe do some research on this before you buy?

if i were you mate i would wait as by the time the Dell gets 2.2 Froyo Google will have released the new 2.3 Gingerbread platform .. or search for a brand of Android phone that will be quick to get the 2.3 upgrade ... some brands take AGES to sort updates ..

Yep I have one, great little tablet and Froyo has been released just before Christmas.

As a phone and tablet, its a great device, its downfall is syncing, or lack of it.
It won't sync with your office stuff, so forget syncing to outlook express, calendar, windows contacts etc, it won't do it and there are no plans to enable it.

This is a huge mistake as it rules out a lot of the business market.

The camera in it isn't that great in low light and there aren't the level or amount of apps for it that there are for the iphone, in fact a lot of apps aren't optimised for the streak so on some you can find you have a small window instead of full screen.

As a freebie with my contract and a cheaper contract than I had with my old Iphone, its fine, but there is no way in hell I would go out and spend £399 on one

2.2 Froyo already available for Dell Streak

I had one briefly for approx 3 months - I have since switched to a HTC Desire about 2 weeks ago.

As a phone it is simply too big - however as a pocketable internet tablet that doubles as a phone it is ok. I was unable to get past the size issue so I moved on.

For me, I found the Pros to be:

Huge screen
Great for browsing
Ran 2.2 froyo after an OTA update
Battery life ok 1-2 days (better than most smartphones but not up to BBerry standards)
Camera & flash good in most situations
16gb or 32gb memory out of the box
Well built and felt solid

And the Cons:

Too big to carry round all the time
Dell overlay/skin nowhere near as polished as HTC Sense
Music player not as good as iPhone IMO
As Ian said - most apps run in a small window or are very pixelated where they are running on a bigger screen resolution
Kept rebooting during music playback

The HTC Desire is a much better phone and slightly cheaper

I have a Streak and love it.

However the 5" screen is too big for most people.

The Desire at 3.7" is also too small for many.

Have a look at the Desire HD which has a 4.3" screen.

I also have one and love it - as making calls is probably the least use it gets the big screen makes things much better fro everything else, and liking the Froyo 2.2 so far.
