Digital oddities

Serious digital photography seems to be all about the SLR style of camera, 1.4(ish) crop or full frame. None of the other styles of older camera seem to have made it to the digital age. Or so I thought.
A fellow at my local photography club mentioned that he normally uses a digital rangefinder camera. Prior to this, I had no idea that such a thing existed, but lo and behold, there is the Leica m8. This made me wonder what else is out there. Forget full-frame, Mamiya do a medium format DSLR. And there's even a digital TLR available. I've also heard of a company that will take your SLR's body cap and punch a wee hole in it to give you a digital pinhole camera.

This may be old news to most, but I was quite surprised and found it pretty interesting.

Has anyone else come across something unusual or out of the ordinary in digital cameras? Please share. How long do you think we'll have to wait for a digital Zenit Photosniper?

Leica M8 - 3 grand for a body only rangefinder and £100 extra if you want it in silver.

A mag had an article about that pinhole mullarkey recently. Results were rubbish.

arclight, they were doing it wrong then.

Besides, it's not all about image quality. Look at Lensless Landscapes by Steve Gosling for some fantastic examples of pinhole photography.

There's no need to pay anybody to put a hole in your lens cap, do it yourself!

Matt, be more amazed by www.betterlight.com - a scanner that fits on the back of large format (and some medium format) cameras.
