Digital optical splitter

A search for 'toslink hub' throws up a few switch type devices and one 2 way splitter on ebay. No idea if they are any good.

What do you want to do? 3 pieces of equipment into 1 DAC or one piece of equipment to 3 DACs? If you are doing 3 into 1, google "Toslink switch" - many available for £5 upwards depending on what you want. If you want 1 into 3, I can only find 1->2 splitters ("Toslink splitter" in Google) for ~£5. You may find that 2 of these cascaded will do the job or the losses through the second cascade may mean the sinks won't sync correctly.

Basicly my bose stereo, need a cable from my tv, xbox, and sky box, the signal gets downgraded to 2.0 instead of 5.1 :-(

You need a toslink switch. The signal will be output from the boxes as 2.0 - it's not the cable that downgrades to 2.0 from 5.1. Either that or the stereo is outputting a 5.1 to 2.0 channels. This is all to do with the settings, not the cable.

Oh..... When i plugghe cable from the xbox to bose it comes up with 5.1 straight away...........

Sky should do 5.1 Dolby digital over optical no problem (I think by default but check your settings in the sky menus). It's just hdmi it only puts out stereo for some bizarre reason.

The amp will detect the signal being put out by the player/source so double check your settings first off.

Theres the issue then, i habe 4x hdmi leads into my tv then the optical cable out of that to surround sound :-(

if it is i dont see the point of the hdmi to be honest, but the only way you can get 5.1 is to connect your xbox to tv with hdmi and connect xbox to amp via optical lead, and skybox to tv via hdmi and to the amp you can use coaxial lead as that media center only has one optical input and 3 coaxial input.
you could always buy the VS-2 video enhancer(but not sure it will benifit you).
