Looking for some advice and recommendations on getting a load of photos (dating from my childhood all the way back to my grandmothers wedding) digitized.

Has anyone used a company that they can recommend? What are the costs?

Yes I can find a load on Google, but Im looking for recommendations on places that have been used! There are a lot of photos and I am a bit nervous about sending them all off.

Thanks in advance

I would imagine it'd work out cheaper to buy a scanner and DIY :)

I've got an Epson all in one printer and it has a facility that lets you fill the scanning bed with photos and then seperate individual photos on the preview and save them as separate files.

Can be a little time consuming but it'd give you the peace of mind that your photos aren't in the hands of Royal Fails finest!

I think Russ is right on this one. Aside from the cost of buying the scanner in the first place it's a no-cost exercise which you can do at your leisure.

Once you've you've finished you could even sell the scanner on and recoup some of the intial cost.

Thanks guys, but I would rather pay for it to be done! I value my free time too much! Besides, it will be a business expense...

I've recently been doing some old family albums, set up a stand for the photo to just drop it in so in a fixed position, camera on a tripod, rattled of about 2,000 in a couple of days in between doing other things.
