Hi all,

Just wondering if many of you frame your own images? By this, i mean make your own frames and mounts to suit your image.

I'm interested in your responses because i have just spent £45 getting one of my images framed with a single mount.

If you do, how much and where do you get your supplies from?

Enjoy the rest of your extended weekend.

Chris.

I mount my own pictures but never frame them. With only doing a few i buy from a local craft shop

I thought about it long and hard until I found a local framer who does a fantastic job for very little money... Just to give you an example, I can get an 18x12in print mounted and framed (light oak about an inch thick) for £15. :)

I highly recommend http://www.pictureframesexpress.co.uk/ which is a site where you assemble a virtual frame and mount online with excellent visualisation throughout the process. The frames are then posted to you complete with acrylic glazing, mount. backing and hangings.

I use them for my family portraits, and several of my students use them as well. It's not quite like making a frame from scratch but if you have half a dozen to do it'll take you an hour to frame and seal them in.

Thanks for the link, John. The website looks fantastic!! I've just done the same setup as the one i've just had made and it's come up half the price. :(

I'll learn the next time lol.

It's certainly a website to bookmark though.

Thanks again.
