do you ever...

I wow myself everytime I use my camera. I am amazed at how I can take a 50D and a selection of lenses and recreate the exact same results as a disposable from boots....

I find I'm too harsh on myself. It's when someone else looks a a photo of mine and is like "WOW, it's fantastic" that I smile.

So, cummon! Make my day just perfect, I've spent all morning in hospital for a 10 minute session with the 'big cheese' so you might as well show me how bad a photo I haven't taken...:p
Aw bless you. Hope it was worth it though.

There's a few of mine that I'm proud of tbh. One of the latest ones being the Jaguar from Chester zoo.

The first picture that was really proud of was the night time one, 4am one January morning in the snow (it's in my 365).

Yes I do.

I'm really proud of some of my wedding shots but the most satisfaction comes from some of the shots I've taken of my kids; I love them and I'll treasure them for the rest of my life. I love the fact I've been able to capture those moments, the expressions, the fact they're my gorgeous girls :)

Yep, my Kite feeding shot, now in pride of place on my wall, framed. :D

Yes and no. I have some photos that I love (one taken on a Fuji point and shoot of Byron bay springs to mind). But because I am learning at the moment, I find myself looking at photos and asking myself how would I have taken it differently...

Although people at work are saying that I am doing some really good stuff, so I am just being over critical :(

Tea spat over monitor time

Just checked camera frame counters etc, and added up rolls of negatives...

Last year 5 times from 8,215 shutter depressions - lots more keepers than that, but only 5 with that certain something.

So far this year, 6 from around 2300, so I guess I'm on the right track - fewer frames, higher quality (especially as nearly 1000 of the waste shots were trying out water drops for the january POTY competition)

Yes, of course, it's the thing that keeps you going!
Not as many as I'd like of course, and not as often as I'd like either. But there are certainly shots that I'm proud to have taken.

cheers

Not often, more likely to look and the pictures and think "why did I bother"

I'm telling you it is a skill mate, when I purchased my first DSLR the salesman told me that I would be taking professional quality pics without an troubles so the way I see it to replicate a box brownie is a skill...

Sorry about the monitor, I am thinking there could be a market for weather sealing them....

On a serious note though there are pictures I am fairly proud of but they are probably middle of the road in reality, I am trying to improve though.

look at a picture that you took and think "wow, did I really take that shot?"

Usually when I shoot with people, I'll do the normal boring "safe" stuff first, get it out of the way, then (time allowing) start playing around with the lights and experimenting to see what I can come up with, and sometimes the stars align just right I surprise myself. If I don't say "Wow!" at least once or twice when looking back over the images at home, I don't feel I've done my job. :)

Then I'll work on the circumstances that caused my "WoW!" moment at the next shoot, until it just becomes familiar.

It's all about whether the standard of "Wow!" changes. The stuff I was saying "Wow!" at a year ago aren't usually images I'm still saying "Wow!" at when I look at them now - but there are one or two exceptions.

One or two. One for sure. Others, maybe. They are good pictures but it's also the circumstances, the location and other factors which contribute to the end result. Like flying in a helicopter through the New Zealand mountains and glaciers and landing on a high snowy plateau. Or standing atop a desert plateau looking down in to a canyon or valley. And braving the streets of some poverty-stricken far eastern slum. Not so much wow did I really take that picture, but also wow, did I really go there and see that.

I agree with this....!!

Only ever achieved it twice. If you'd have asked me a year ago I'd have said about 5 but it seems my standards increase at a faster rate than my ability. I think I like it that way. The less happy I am with my shots the more driven I am to work at improving.

Every single time :D ;)*
