Do you write in your photobooks?

Yes
Yeah, bit of a random question but i'm just putting the finishing touches to a photobook and am wondering whether to write stuff in it, such as shot information and location, even bumf about that location. Going to stick a contents list in but do I write random bumf on the back cover, index?:p

So yeah, is there any point? Would it just clutter up the pages? Is it cringeworthy reading back?

I dont write a thing, apart from on the spine? Ive seen books that have full pages of "Getting Ready", and "The Ceremony", and it just winds me up. As if the bride and groom arent going to know their own wedding day :D

If you're going to do that you would probably be better off putting some text at the bottom of the each image in photoshop, and then make the photobook.

Depends what the books on, and whos it going to.

I've yet to make myself one, but one I do own just has in pictures of people just the first names of whos in it below and a little blurb at the beginning saying what the books about.

This is a book of landscape images, i've ordered them into sections (such as "Plymouth", "Dartmoor") and given each section a title page as such with the section name and a big photo but I dunno about the more specific locations... :o

EDIT: Here's an example of what I have so far.

It confuses me even more as I've had a look at a few of the blurb books on their site and they have pages of writing in. :p

I used to work for a company called Creative Memories and we were always taught to journal in our albums. Some people write a lot but I tend to just put the who, what, where, when. That way even when I am not around my albums can be looked at and people will know exactly what it all means. Its personal preference at the end of the day.

I've just done one from a holiday in Tuscany in 2008 (yes i'm lazy). I titled the cover and spine but thats it. I did the book in iPhoto as i was short on time to get it sorted before the Xmas delivery deadline (would have preferred to have more control over the layout), so i just placed a small map on for each of the places we went. Very pleased with the end results.

While we were their we did keep a bit of a diary of what we did each day and places we went, i was going to add this to the book but after a couple of pages decided it looked naff plus i didn't really have the time to check it all.

As said above, depends who it's for and what it's about.

If I do a small personal project, there'll be no text, but for my final college exam, Blurb was excellent for adding words and pictures - and even contact sheets!

Ian.
