Hello,

As the titles states, i was wondering if a photo saves the exif date when online?

My thinking is that i have done some artwork and taken photos that i believe someone else has copied and listed as their own. now my thinking is that if i set exif data for each of my photos containing artwork and the person in questions is just copying them, that they may not know about the data. SO i could then grab an image from their site and check that data.

Is this possible?

Thanks

its possible, and EXIF data is carried as an image is copied and published by default, but its easy to remove, saving for web in photoshop destroys it, and theres an export option to remove it in Lightroom as well

yeah i am aware of these options but i think the person in questions isnt very up on computers and this may be a way to catch them out.

In lightroom i can add exif data, is it possible in photoshop as well

The exif data is already there, You can't add it, only remove it

not entirely true.

You can change exif data add/modify/delete/edit

just look up opanda

case in point look at the exif of this photo, clearly it wasn't taken at 2mm f/32 and 1/5000 shutter speed. I just modified the data to show it can be done

I always use this online tool for qucik EXIF viewing of online photos. It's got a great little bookmark that you can use - if you're looking at an image just click the bookmark and voila!

Canon 7d with 50mm 1.8 mark II, f/2.5.

1 on camera 430 EX II bounced off the ceiling,

a fair amount of PP, but mostly on the background which originally looked like this:

Thanks for that :) You've made a nice job of the PP, I can see it now, but didn't spot it previously.

And here's me thinking it was studio shot with you in front of some massive softbox. Shows what you can do if you know how to use a simple hot-shoe gun

V nice DoF effect!

cheers, it took a considerable amount of time because the hair and skin are similar tones to the background so wasn't an easy adjustment, worth it though
