Yes
My niece wants me to shoot her - has done for months, but after about 4 months she's dragging her backside over  I dunno, when I get asked to do shots for someone I nearly always get a little nervous, incase they're crap or I don't capture what they're looking for or...whatever...

Anyone else the same? :suspect:

Don't get me wrong, I love it and i get to play with lights *happydance* but...you know...still kinda nervous/apprehensive

It's been nearly 20 years since I decided I wanted to be a snapper and I still get stage fright before a shoot sometimes.

The butterflies always go as soon as things get rolling and I actually quite like them. Keeps me on my toes and means the buzz is still there. :)

Depends on the job - snapping Prince Andrew on his recent visit here didn't bother me as it's bread & butter 'work' - I seldom get nervous when I'm in my comfort-zone...

To be honest I worried more about the Xmas Day pix that went to the Mail on Sunday as the situation and light were a bit...boring...

Any time I'm trying something new or being forced to use an untried technique on a job that can't be repeated easily (or at all) will make me sweat a little though...

When I was doing regular shoots for clients I would always get a bit nervous beforehand. Always sorted itself out after a few minutes though - but I reckon that kept me on my toes and producing images people are delighted with.

have a chat and a cup of tea together
show her the camera...let her take some shots of you
laugh at them

then cut to the chase..

Well I did a shoot and why, oh why, do I always make silly mistakes? Can't always blame it on my meds...or can I?

I didn't set the white balance. b****r!! However... I did shoot in RAW so I can fix it, so no harm done really. Going to do another shoot in the morning though. ;)

I'd be very nervous if I had to photograph something that only happens once, like a wedding for example.

Everything only happens once - every shot captures a unique moment! :)

Yea but I mean, if someone tells you to go shoot some landscape and they don't like it, you can go back the next day and do it again.

If someone asks you to do their wedding and they don't like the photos, the chance has passed.

I understand what you're saying too though.

I don't normally do people, but my neice wanted her photo taken with her boyfriend by a xmas tree in a resturant, it was a bit nervy so i used Program mode LOL.
I didn't let on i do mainly landscapes but they were happy with the results, buti knew they weren't up to scratch without a speedlight flash instead of camera flash.

I get worried if I don't get butterflies! :)

I always find that I get butterflies when I am properly engaged and a lack of butterflies usually means kicking myself up a gear because it's a warning that I had better get myself into what I'm doing. Butterflies are good things :)

Yes to be honest . Normally because you never know what your going to get... Really good kids that do as they are told or real little sh-ts that you would rather shoot with a gun... lol

So yes and i hope i always will....

So that's what that feeling is?! I've taken my camera to a few family gatherings over Christmas, and haven't been worried. But last week my uncle told me to get some shots of my aunt, and her mother and sisters, as they don't have any of them together. I immediately broke into a sweat about it.

Annoying that people think someone with a "big camera" (it's not even a big camera!) Can get amazing shots without the required knowledge! :D

Reminds me when I was first getting back into photography last year and I fogot to change the WB from the night before - lots of BLUE photos of the family next day (didn't realise 'til it was too late).

Anyway, that taught me always to shoot in RAW in future ;) (costs me a fortune in memory cards but I don't mind :D)

I'm starting

I'm starting to get worried about buying a battery grip. 35% bigger presumably means I'm 35% better.

I have a 1DS does not mean I am a long time pro...

But people think OHHH big camera must know what he/ she is doing...

Nerves is starting my first outside shoot with a model and realising after the first shot that it was far too sunny for CLS to work on any of my three flashes. I'll always remember that, lol.

Otherwise I do get a bit nervous, which I think is natural. It's more a concern that you achieve the clients desired vision or level of quality.

Or forgetting to check the ISO which is still on 1000 from shooting indoors. Doh! :)

I am well on my way to having shot 40 to 50 studio shoots...nerves are ALWAYS a mess before a shoot. After a min or two, I get into it.

I get nervous verytime I pick up the camera.

I am trying to look for someone to take me under their wing so to speak to help me, as this learning on your own thing is not much fun or rewarding.:help:

Had this just yesterday, photographing an inter-Regiment Cricket-Match on the Helicopter Landing Site...(it's all blood and teeth out here, Folks!!!)...
The CO of the Engineers had an issued Nikon D200, Nikkor 70-200 f/2.8 VR
and was complaining that it was useless or broken as it didn't focus properly. He was contantly fiddling with the manual focus-ring after the AF had locked and consequently all his shots were OOF...

I had a look (as you do) and found the dioptre adjustment was set wa-aaaaay off... All you could see was a huge blur.

After doing all that, and setting the camera up for Shutter-priority at 500th second (make it easy on him, I thought), he commented: "We don't really need you here now, do we? Our photos will be as good as yours with this camera..."

I just smiled sweetly...

(while in my head I was pumping his shredded, writhing corpse full of 9mm bullets...:suspect:)

So...Guess which Engineer Regiment will NOT be getting an End-Of-Tour Group Photo...

C-Units...lol

Did the second shoot yesterday, which was fun :D (couple in People and portraits - "couple more") was waaaay off with lighting the backdrop though....b****r, but niece is happy and her friend saw a few on FB and asked my niece if I'd take pics of them both....bless her!
