Does your Nikkor 16-85mm whirr on VR.

My new one does, It doese'nt bother me, in fact I find it quite reassuring, I know its working.

The whirring is like that on my OM-D M5 only quieter.

I have had a number of 16-85's, yes plural, on a number of D7000's, yes again plural, either owned or on appro.

Glutton for punishment :bang:

I can honestly say that I have never heard a 16-85 whirring before.

The lens is fitted to my new D300s, would that perhaps make a difference.

Also, much to my amazement/joy the IQ of JPG's OOC is superb, I never had anything anywhere near as good with a D7000/16-85 combination, especially hand held.

I have now at last, got from a Nikon a combination that I have been searching for since I went DSLR.....over 2 years ago.

I have a 16-85 and never noticed the VR whir if it does it's very quite. Actually both lens I have with VR are like this almost silent The only noise I ever hear is the focus motor as it briefly refocus the lens.

Have to agree, I don't have this lens but none of my VR lenses whir.

I can hear the VR go on my 16-85. You need to be in a silent place and listen out for it though.
