Dog Appreciation Thread, post your fave dog shots here...

I'd like to see a shot of her eyes. Are they both blue,or one of each?

They're actually both brown but she has a splash of blue in the right - you can only really see it when she's looking to the side and the light catches it. :)

I couldnt decide which was my favorite so picked a posing one and two candids, I wish I had cleared the background on the second one but i was playing around with my camera and saw her resting on the cushion looking away from me so got a quick snap before she was moved or chased off by the wife ;)

C&C welcome as always (y)

I love these pics - #1 and #3 more so than #2 - for the reasons you describe. What was the background in #1 - and how did you light the shot? It looks like a yellowish/orange source of light from the left?...

Thanks for the comment, I used a small angle poise lamp fitted with a "White" low energy bulb from above but shining toward the left side as i wanted more light on the dog rather than the background. my dogs coat is quite light, described as wheaten, and sometimes looks darker under certain light conditions.

The background was a fleece type throw/blanket that I sometimes use as a backdrop because I like the texture, don't tell the wife though :LOL::LOL:

Your secret is safe with me - think I will need to invest in a grey black throw myself! The effect is nice and 'matt' (y)

Thanks Maria, had been thinking the same, he was quite close and I've always got my 300mm prime on at the moment... excuses excuses! they'll be plenty of opportunity to frame a similar shot better, trust me :p

What a beautiful girl ... my sincere condolences on the loss of your dear Molly. It is - as you say - heart breaking to lose a beloved companion and family member....
