Ok, i've just read through hashcakes thread regarding him gettting one of his photos published and i thought i would tell you a story about something similar that happened to me this week.

I'm the secretary for a small amateur football club but i also take my camera along to get some snaps of the action. For a while now the manager writes a match report and along with the better phots, sends them to a local free advertising paper. I know the guy that runs it and to be honest i don't mind him using my pictures because it breaks up the monotinous blocks of text whilst getting our club noticed.

Imagine my surprise this morning when i look in one of the other local papers with a catchment audience of 20,000+ people to find the report and my pictures. It turns out that the report writer sends the report and my pictures to ALL the local papers every week. Nice one, they have never been interested before but they got the report and pics anyway and decided to publish. Looking at the bottom of the photo i notice that it's not my name being acknowledged but the writer of the match report!!!

So not only have i missed out on the £15 the pay as standard to any photographs submitted to them but i'm not credited with the photo either!!!

Hence to say that i'm not very happy and it caps off a pretty ****** week!

Next time send your pics in with single use only and the name of the paper, not for reproduction elsewhere, and your copyright details. They may relalise they have annoyed you and pay you properly. Wayne
 
Yeah fair enough. I just think it's ironic that the first picture that i've had published in a decent paper and not only have i not been paid but go no credit either :):):) And yes V8, i have talked the the person involved, he now owes me a night on the beer!
 
I'd send a letter along to the person claiming the photos and tell them how to spell your name, becuase they seem to have got it wrong last time :P thats unfortunate that you didn't get the credit but on the bright side, at least your pics were worth publishing! Congrats anyway.
 
In future make sure you put your details in the EXIF. I'd imagine the paper would check that :)

Congrats on getting a pic in the paper though.

The persons name against the photo is the clubs manager that i have a good relationship with. He didn't claim them as his own intentionally, the paper just assumed that the person writing the match report was the same person who took the picture. I have spoken to him and he can consider his arse well and truly slapped, in a non-gay friendly way :)
 
I would contact them and push for the £15.
They have no reason not to pay it and I would also have a word with the reporter as well.
