Drone Racing...

Has any one attempted to photograph this before?

Just been to my local park and there was a circuit set up with a bunch of people racing their drones.

Tempted to take my camera down and hopefully get some shots, never really attempted something like this before though, and they look fast!

Watched drone racing on TV and they are super super fast your panning skills will be tested

I took a few shots at a club open day that had drone racing in the stadium. As has been mentioned, they're exceptionally quick so not the easiest thing to capture.

I got a few shots I'd consider decent, however you're likely going to need to be quite far back from the circuit, so take a lens with some reach as the things look tiny in the air.

never done it but my GUESS would be to pre focus on a turn and start shooting as they arrive...


guessing one time where "spray and pray" may be appropriate

I thought the OP meant that he wanted to photograph the race with his own drone chasing them.. .. ..
