Hi all,

I have a second hand 40D and an imported Tamron 17-50 2.8. Obviously no warranty on the 40D and I'm on dodgy ground warranty-wise with the lens.

Therefor I'd like to get some sort of insurance against accidental damage etc while I'm out and about.

I'm assuming that loads of people will have this type of insurance so does anyone have any suggestions re the best place to go for this?

Cheers,

Danny.

Thanks Rob. The thought had crossed my mind but I wasn't sure about what would happen if I damaged it whilst out and about (with it being 'home' insurance).

Maybe that's just me having a civil servant moment :)

I'll give them a bell and enquire. Cheers.

You want to ask about "personal posessions away from home" which also covers things like watches, glasses, clothes etc.

Make sure you get "accidental damage" cover too.

Most home insurances will cover 'possessions away from home' up to £500 with the minimum amount of cover and will normally go to around £2,000-£2.500 with a small extra premium. Once you get past that sort of figure you will need to look at getting specialist insurance. I use Photoguard for my gear and they seem to get some good reviews on here in case you need any though.

A warranty only covers manufacturing defects, so you'd need all risks cover even if you'd bought new, UK imported items.
