No
Watch out for taxes and duties! Enough to make it not worthwhile! The lenses are not great either.

Personally I would go to onestop-digital for the D700 £1560 (odd).

Firstly bear in mind on a camera body the warranty is only valid in the area purchased, in this case the USA so be prepared to send it there if it fails.

You may get stung for VAT and import duty, it's the luck of the draw.

some HK dealers offer sales with a guaranteed refund on any duty if charged. Digital Rev is one. You just email a scanned copy of the charges and they pay directly into your bank account. I kno it work I did it. Eas fully prepared to pay full duty amounts but only got charged 42 pounds in the end on a very large buy.

i had looked at one stop digital as well so one stop digital and digital rev actually do pay the tax bit bacK? if so thats really cool, i has just assumed it was nonsense and wouldnt happen.

I have ordered from onestop and got charged no duties. I work with a guy that got all the duties refunded.

ok thanks mate, will be taking a look at them i think

Generally they only pay back duty on the listings that state that... which is not all, so just watch for that.

I spent a small fortune with one-stop and can thoroughly recommend them.

Good fast delivery and good prices, but i did not get charged for the import so i cannot vouch for that side of things..!

Seen a few like this
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-Nikon-D70...eras?hash=item2555c7ca6d&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

on ebay and i dont know if this is real or not, and im wondering if there would be any import charges to pay on this and how much it is, is this something that is a good idea or not?

not really sure what to do so thought id seek some advice on here for it.

someone correct me if im wrong, but that ebay link looks like a horrible deal. d700, an 18-55 (does this even work on a d700?) a few generations old 70-300, a 50mm and some useless no name lenses and flashgun, plus a load of old tat that would probably break after one use. for £2k stay well clear,

With DigitalRev you can opt to pay the duty up front, that's what I did with my Pocket Wizards. Okay, I might have got away with it, but I couldn't be bothered with the hassle of having to sort payment out 3 weeks down the line with HMRC.

precisely why I said dont bother, most of those items are a waste of space!

I can see no reason to get this.

There is a guy on here (digital depot? cant remember name but there is a post by Cowasaki on Talk Equipment on the d700) who has them for around £1670. Thats a proper UK one. The VR lens on ebay is DX so will be pants on the d700, the 70-300 is not the greatest lens to be polite.

Do you could buy the d700 here and the 50mm for less than £1800, still leaves best part of £200 for the extras...

One Stop Digital is very competitively priced on the D700. Has anyone heard any horror stories about this company or are they worth the try, do you think?

Yes, absolutely.

Sorry I thought we'd established that and gone off to discuss other options... but you are right, it wasn't said outright enough.

Avoid it for sure!

i will look into this as well, would rather the money be going to someone off the forum anyway so will take a look

I bought my D200 and my wife's D40x from Digital Rev together with some lenses and other stuff. We were hit for import duty but digital rev repaid most of it as several of the bought items had this guarantee. I had no problems with them. However look at the wonderful lenses on offer !!!

18-55vr !! >>> Crop body kit lens on a full frame D700
500mm mirror >>> oh no please
650-1300mm >>> £14.99 telescope from aldi ?

AF 50mm F1.8  So this is a one lens offer :)

The reality is that most of the stuff in that offer is either utter rubbish or included other than the glorious nifty fifty (which costs £89 at argos).

I was in your position 2 weeks ago and went to Digital Depot who are one of TP's advertisers. They gave the best price, it is UK stock, free hat and free postage. Go harrass Stuart for the best deal he can do.

If you buy from the UK using a premier or pro dealer you get 2 year warranty plus 5 discount vouchers for other items.

Oh the 18-55vr does work on the D700.....

Really honest.....

Please don't dare me to prove it because I might have to post a lovely picture after nicking the lens off my D1x for 10 minutes :)

I expected someone to ask so did it anyway.....

Notice the problems around the corners......

Yes there is a crop setting but that just means cutting out the middle of the full sized picture anyway.

I'd avoid any seller trying to bundle the D700 with a DX kit lens - they are either mad, incompetant or both.

Looks a really poor deal.

go to stuart at digital depot. just bought my d700 off him today. great guy!
