Has anyone been to Durlton castle at all? I know its semi ruins but I may be visiting there later in the year and am wondering if I can get pictures inside it easily or if I will have to learn how to use the devil flash to a higher level than sticking it on the camera and hoping it sorts itself out :shake:

Do you mean Dirleton Castle - in East Lothian? If so, it's easy to take photos in it, though you have to pay to get in. It's a terrific ruin, slightly gloomy in some bits inside but it all adds to the atmosphere. It has a terrific timber entrance bridge and the doocot is worth a shooting inside as well. I know all this because it was the site of my first ever excusrsion with my dSLR - the D40X. Ahhhh....seems like yesterday.

Thanks, that spelling would help me find some pictures on flickr, no wonder I could not find any
I will have to put aside some time and see if I can get by without much (if any) flash! Does it have any lights or is it unlit?

My first pictures were of teasels beside the car park in the forest, not quite as interesting as yours :D

It's lit, but still gloomy. You might need some flash but generally you would get by without it. The Dirleton Inn across the village green from it is good for a plate of soup or drink or whatever. You could also head down to Yellowcraigs beach which is about a mile away - a nice beach with good views back to Edinburgh-ish and to the Bass rock.

Thats great, visit to the Inn will probably be incorporated, not sure about the beach though that will depend on the weather and how much time I'm given!

Thanks for that
