risking it taking photos/footage inside kings tut's tomb, when i was there they had a striked no photo policy and saw a bloke get his camera smashed when they was trying to take it off him and it was dropped

Doubt they care about photography inside the tomb they take you to these days, it's only about 3 years old. I know an Egyptian guy who was one of the archaeologists working on creating the replica they now take tourists to.
Egypt's always good fun. Had a friend who worked there - had a flat just around the corner from Tahrir during the Arab Spring. Hope you took the long train ride down to Luxor - only way to really see Egypt.
During the uprising, both sides knew tourism was their lifeline, so they'd stop fights to let the tourists through to the museum.
