Hi guys

I really need help with my email account. I've synced my 1-2-3reg email account with entourage fine until about a month ago when the email wouldn't send anything out. Now entourage won't even recognise the smtp code for it. I've contact 123 about this and they don't seem to give a damn, giving me a load of tutorials about something completely irrelevant.

Its my email to my wildlife stuff so is stressing me out that I can't sync it. I've logged in via the long winded way via the 123 site and it shows no messages at all in my inbox and some of those I really need. I haven't run out of time using it because I paid for 2 years, about 9 months ago.
:bang:

Any help appreciated, and any other desktop email programs greatly appreciated.

Kind regards

Sarah

So you have problems sending emails, but not receiving or is nothing going either way?

Some ISPs block outgoing SMTP and this may be causing the issue, you may need your own SMTP server and even then, you may need to use a port other than 25.

My dad has been with orange non stop and hasn't changed anything. Literally nothing has changed and I don't know how to solve it.

It would seem nothing is going either way anymore, and all my emails that were in my inbox have just disappeared.:shake:

I purchased an email address from them and if I want to log in ''properly'' I have to go to webmail.123reg etc...

You've been talking about "Syncing" which implies using IMAP to access your incoming emails on the 123-reg server and leaving them there while keeping a copy on your local machine. Is this what you are doing and is it possible they have been downloaded by POP3 somewhere else (e.g. another computer / different mail software / mobile telephone / googlemail etc etc etc), which normally empties the mailbox on the server after downloading?

The failure to relay outgoing email via the 123-reg SMTP server sounds like an authentication failure and it should give a failure message. SMTP has a very well defined set of failure codes given in RFC821 and RFC 1893 (don't worry about these, it's only nerds like me that read them :p ), so knowing the exact contents of any failure message when attempting to send email via 123-reg would be essential.

Yes there was an authentication failure saying net traffic, operation on the server timed out. I got sent some info about overriding the default smtp port from 25 to 587 - whatever that means....it is working now though... I'm still baffled though as to why it changed itself or what it means?:bang:

sounds like your ISP may be blocking port 25 for email that isnt theirs.
