...and the new dot matrix I bought for the office will NOT play ball! Its an LQ590 - if anyone knows these things ...ehem...'intimately', please shout up, before I throw the bloody thing out of the window! :bang::bang:

Basically, all the settings are telling it the paper is 12 inches long [hardware & software], but the blasted thing still thinks its printing to 11 inches, hence it stops for tearing off an inch short and the next page prints an inch higher and so on. I can provide further information on current settings, etc, if anyone has any ideas of how epson printers think, if indeed they do at all

thanks Christine, but not the issue, its set to print to the correct size, standard A4, but onto a specific paper size too [different settings if you see what I mean], but it just aint happenin :bonk:

I have now come home, totally frustrated, but got a print out of current settings for reference

to be more specific, paper size to print to is actually margially bigger then a4, 210x305mm, and its an actual option in the print properties, in other words, 12inches long - this can also be set via the printer control panel, and that is set to 12 inches too, so you can see why I am just a bit pee'd off with it.

My Dad spoke to Epson this morning, might be a different dept though...

 Everytime I call I just get a message sayin they are closed, well on the tech line anyway and the online chat and email support both seem to be totally unavailable

However, I have put the hammer away for now, I got in today, opened the new program i also installed, opened the relevent docs and hit print...all ok so far, hit print again, ok again....hmmm....and again.... its seems being left overnight in a cold office persuaded it that perhaps being a little more obliging might be no bad thing! :bonk:

No idea what happened, didnt change anything, but it works perfectly eveytime - only trouble now is that being an epson, it came with no cables so I nicked the parallel cable from the laser printer, but as both will be wired into same machine, and there is only one parallel port, the epson will have to be usb [the laser only has parallel], so wanna bet I have to go through the whole rigmarole tomorrow when I attach it via a usb cable :bat:

Still, I am several coffees and a LOT of paper calmer now
