Hi, I have an Epson stylus photo 950 that's always turned out some great results, but after just getting it connected to my iMac I've found a problem :(

It's stood dormant for a month or so, and after installing the printer it's output from photoshop is awful.I suspect that one of the print heads is blocked and needs cleaning, but there does'nt seem to be a utility for this under OS X

The driver was already installed in the iMac....that was pretty cool :D, I've looked on the Epson site for a utility download, theres one for windoze.....but nothing under MAC intel

I could really d without shelling out on a new printer at the mo....plus I have a few spare carts for the 950 that need to be used before it hits the scrap.

Anyone else had a problem with an old printer when changing to Mac?
Or can even suggest a way round it......pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease :bonk:

What about drivers for it for mac,.....from the Epson site.

When I installed my Canon Printer drivers, it took me a while to find the utility stuff. It was hidden in a dropdown menu :$

Not sure if this may help, open "system preferences" then the printer, if your printer is listed, double click the printer name and it should bring up a drop menu with the utility logo on, click and the options screen should open. Hope this helps as I did have probs with a 220R and ended up on "Google" but can't remember where I got it:thinking:

The driver name supplied with the Mac OS is the same as the one listed in the printer details, so unless Apple stripped the good stuff out of the driver package, I'm not sure that there will be any point downloading the driver from the Epson site.

The utility icon is there, but when you click on it, the dialogue box it opens is blank!!!!!!!!!

I've set the printer up now to run via the AirPort Express, so when I get 5 free, I'll install the AirPort Express app on my windoze lappy.......with luck that'll allow me to carry out maintenance from the lappy via the network.

I'm really not ready to shell out on a new printer !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

we have either the epson 850's or 950's on Macs at work proofing without any trouble. Thing is i wont be back at work till next week.

Dave.....if you could check the OS, and the driver details I'd be grateful.....maybe even see if the utility will work.

As it is, i cant check ink levels, or clean the print heads etc

Hi DF, not sure if you managed to sort out the prob, but this is the site http://www.giantmike.com/ I found to sort out the R220 probs. If you check out the reviews, he has a 750 listed which may help.

I have an Epson R300 connected to my Mac Book Pro. I seem to have 2 printer utilities in my apps folder. One is Utility 2 and the other is 3. Version 3 doesn't see the R300 but 2 does. I wonder if the printer utility you have is not the correct one for the printer. The version that sees the R300 is 3.09. The other ( which I suspect is for the Epson D92 on the PC) is 6.10
