Since the demise of my precious camera, I have been given a compact to use, unfortunately whilst the camera is a cracking little point and shoot, operating it for me is like trying to pick your nose with boxing gloves on. I am on the verge of leaving the most enjoyable hobby I have had .

It feels like Im peeing against the wind trying to get set up again.

Doesn't sound like you to give up so easily Julian, get yourself along to a camera store and try every model they have till you find one that suits you, worry about affording it once you've found it

Some of the stuff that goes on the classifieds on are are bargains I have to sit on my hands as I don't actually need anything at the moment. Might be worth a look???

I think I have interpreted the rules correctly that you can buy with less than 100 post count but not post a for sale or wanted ad.

Did you have any insurance to cover the demise of your previous camera?

Julian - your house contents insurance should cover it? I read about the nature of the accident and I cant see them turning you down.

If not then Kath is right - the classifieds do contain bargains and you dont need the 100 posts to buy.

Hope you get yourself back on togging soon matey

It was only a fujis1500 but I had a buyer for it as I was going to trade in for a nikon d60 kit, insurance wont cover it as I was not at home when I fell.

When my wife phoned she told the insurance where I was and they said only covered in the house and garden. Needless to say I have changed the policy to cover my goods anywhere.

:( Sorry to hear that the insurance wont cover it.
Hmmmm are there any grants you could look into? You say in another thread that you were covering the event in an official capacity so are there any disability grants that could help you look to start up a business?

I am far from being able to do it professionally, I was the "Official Photographer" for the Stroke group I belong to, basically they were just letting me feel I was helping.

Howsabout trying some film? You can get some seriously good SLR's for very reasonable prices...

Film...good idea - I just bagged a Nikon F3 for £145 and a Nikkor 35mm f/2 lens for another £100...

Granted, F3 bodies go for a bit more than that usually... but it'll keep you going for the time being...

Its a bad time, infact couldnt have happened at a worse time New car due in 2 weeks have to cough up for the adaptations. Just bloody frustrated as I was really getting into it

I realise Wheels hasn't been a member for long and I might be going out on a limb here, but this looks like a classic case of "TP to the Rescue"...

Let me canvas a couple of the guys here...

hi..............just a thought

if you have some loss of mobility in fingers/hands..

you could mount the camera on a tripod, then...

a shutter release cable thing would work on older 35mm film cameras

or an electronic release would work on digital

so you wouldn't have to operate the shutter button directly ?

OK PMs recieved and sent and we'll stand-down for now, but the offer's good if you change your mind...

I really do not want to loan a camera, I would gladly help someone out if I could, but I would hate to loan a camera and something happen to it.

Erm I dont think thats what is being offered.

I think it is a one-less-pint-this-fri and put money into Robs hat and see if something that records images pops out!

Howsabout taking lots of pictures and joining our motley crew as repayment?!

I will leave it up to you guys you all know each other, I have to say just the thought of it is mind blowing as I know these are not cheap.

OK we're back on...pledges to me via PM and we'll see what we can come up with before anyone actually sends anything.

Keep this open for a fortnight, say?

Well said Si!

Roll up roll up TP. Pledges to the one who uses italics.

:plusone: :agree:

Julian,

Looks like you're outvoted (and outgunned) mate! :D

If it gets you out and lets you do what makes you happy, then I for one will quite happily chip in! That's thanks enough in my book! ;)

Si

:thankyou: heart felt
