Times are tough but thought I would start a thread outlining the positives that will come from Covid-19.

My first contribution:

The UK will be the fittest nation on the planet! Ever since 'the lockdown' we have turned from a nation of 'couch potatoes' into everyone needing their daily exercise! maybe the owner of Sports Direct was correct in saying he is essential with all these people finding excuses for exercise and carrying on as normal. ;)

I think you are right, as I was leaving for work yesterday, I saw several people out for a jog/fast walk and it was painfully obvious it was the first exercise they had taken in a while. Hopefully they won't over do it.

Also worth noting that if you are taking exercise, you should be eating healthily and getting the right nutrients and vitamins, otherwise you could easily end up lowering your immune system.

Still working, factory and with current guidlines will continue working.

............and another good reason to wear gloves whilst 'filling up'!
I think it's one of those self service pumps and she's swiping her card!

Since the lockdown - fitness equipment suppliers have had to deal with unprecedented demand. I'd been umming and ahing about getting a treadmill - and have been going to the gym every day for a few months - seeing the likelihood of a lockdown I ordered one a couple of days before it happened - they called me today to offer me an upgrade as my chosen model had sold out - and during the conversation he said that they'd received more orders on the announcement of the lockdown than for the entire year of 2019 - and had as a result suspended taking any new orders.

Easter mayhem at the RC church opposite my house is cancelled.
Some of the parking has to be seen to be believed, downright dangerous to all

I want a text from the government saying all DIY is suspended until further notice....

As well as the heightened risk of an A&E visit, Toolstation are currently closed to the general public - only trades can pick up one-person-portable objects.

As for the silver lining - currently there isn't a cloud around it (other than the nasty covid shaped one...)

B&q and screwfix are open

Shhhh… I'm trying to help you get out of DiY!!!

Think of all the babies that will be born at Christmas.

As the Web/TV are still working as normal and contraceptive pills/condoms are freely available I don't think we will see a big rise in the birth rate.

However if the lockdown exceeds three to four weeks I feel sure that the divorce rate will skyrocket!

Or murder rate!

In all seriousness, this is not a good time if you are at risk of domestic abuse

Rather than the Political points scoring and constant criticism of the government by our regular posters on the Covid-19 thread lets report something positive that helps to cheer us up!

This story shows what can be done by the brilliance of F1 engineering in just a week - doesn't rely on any skilled staff to operate either:

https://news.sky.com/story/coronavi...-as-f1-teams-join-ventilators-effort-11965584

Something positive from the NHS rather than the constant criticism by our resident NHS worker:

Ruth May (Chief nursing officer also said the effort by everyone was incredible!)

Conservative MP returns to NHS to help:

Lets have a lot less negativity and whinging & something positive to cheer us up :)

P.s. - if you rotate NHS 180 degrees it means Stay Home Now.

Is it only political point scoring you're against then?
I do not think that dig was necessary.

Sorry to be a party pooper :)

Just get depressed reading how everything is wrong! Nice to read some positives and how hard people are pulling together to get things done :)

Personally I think at the moment most are putting the Great back into Britain!

It looks like a lot but when you zoom in, like on Edinburgh, you see one fight going there as opposed to one every minute.
I'm not sure how many are freight. I noticed one flight from Prestwick and one flight going to Cork.

It’s so quiet around the airport people are going out into the gardens and marvelling at the flying machines, but joking aside it is more noticeable now when a plane flies in as it breaks the quietness.

Keep the good news coming everybody :)

Lets make this thread really positive so we have somewhere to come and uplift our spirits :)

Mrs Nod had 37 students for her 1st online Yoga class at lunchtime. All current students, all of whom have prepaid for packs of classes to use either online under lockdown or at the studio when it's allowed to reopen. All seemed upbeat and happy to have a way to socialise almost face-to-face. It was a bit chaotic once they were unmuted after the class (for the social session!) but there was plenty of laughing as people were chatting. Nice to have a little bit of income, even if it is down a fair bit due to other teachers' classes at the studio being cancelled so no rent coming in, especially since the next quarter's lease payment has just been made.

The below is a shot of me in Downward Facing Dog...
