EXIF Viewer Camera Info

Hi, my girlfriend has recently had her camera stolen from uni and it is pretty obvious who is responsible but no proof. There are some recent pictures posted on facebook from this person and I tried using the KUSO EXIF viewer but it says nothing about the camera make/model unlike my own shots (on my pc I should add). Is this because they are hosted online and lost some info or is there another way of finding out the camera info?

Possibly Fackbook looses the EXIF, Also some programs strip the EXIF data...

The best way to do this is probably to try and get hold of an original jpg...

With any luck the thieving scrote will upload images somewhere else where the EXIF isn't stripped out.

If this is on UNI land, can the Uni not enforce action to allow you to see an orignal file to prove/disprove. If the person has nothing to hide then why would there be any problems ;)

Unfortunately the person involved is living out of campus in a rented house with other students. My gf left her camera in this persons room, in a cover in the back of a clothes drawer, when she went back to pick it up the next week the accused just produced an empty case. They were the only people to know where it was and their own camera and laptop etc in the room were not moved/stolen etc. So far there has been no attempt to sort it out from them at all let alone an appology!!!

The suspicious thing is there are 2 albums from this person on facebook from the same night, and in one of the pics you can clearly see a camera wrist strap which looks exactly like the canon one, unfortunately the camera is being held so no good view. We thought that the other album of the same do could have been taken with the missing camera, but with no EXIF data and re-named files it appears impossible to tell.

Any mutual friends who can pretend to like one of the FB pics so much they are willing to "buy" the original full size jpg for some drinks?

I take it there was no contents insurance on the property where it was stolen, did you ring the police..

as something like this may have helped the light fingered foe come clean.

They "dont know" about insurance (yes thats how helpful they have been) and she has called the police, they said unless there was a forced entry then they cant report it as stolen, however they could go and arrest the suspect or something along those lines. My gf can claim on our house insurance but with a £100 excess for a £200 camera its debatable as to whether its worth it.

Sorry it wasnt a Canon, it is a Sony DSCTX1S Cyber-shot Digital Camera, which are actually over £200 plus of course a decent memory card.
