Hello all,

I an new to photography and this forum. Apologies if am starting a new thread as I couldn't find any old ones.

I've just come across the following

Quote: ''If you look through the viewfinder and see a very bright picture, set the camera’s exposure compensation to +1 or even +2. If your picture is mostly filled with dark things, you might want to employ an exposure compensation of -1 to -2.''

Is the above true? I was really under the impression that if it's a bright picture/lighter object to set the exp compensation to minus and on plus side if it's a darker object.

Really confused now. Any advise appreciated.

Many thanks, and apologies if this question has been posted elsewhere.

Phew!! Understand it slightly better now...need to put it in action to learn better.

I got confused myself with foreground-background scenario..thanks everyone!! And LADS is a good way to remember it :-)

Regards,
Anand
