External hard-drive?

Bought myself one, whats my best bet cut & paste all my vids, tunes & pics to the hard drive, then start a fresh with my pictures, my music & my videos, then just cut & copy every month or so the files I've gained. Do I need to have free space on my internal hard drive to install programmes like photoshop?
 
Also, if I cut and copy all files from my music etc, will WMP still have it in the libary?
 
Use explorer and drag everything to your new hard drive, you then have the option to keep the files on your old drive or delete everything you dont wnat on there. When you upload new files upload them straight to the external hard drive, in doing so will keep your internal drive wiht space for other things. You will have to redirect your wmp to find the files on your exr hd.
