My daughter has lovely blue eyes and I want to take a close up of 1 of her eyes just to see how clear I can get it. Any one got any tips on how to get a crystal clear eye shot?

I had a read of that Ian thank you, I dont have photoshop though

200mm as close as you can get to focus and using that sb900 off camera (on cable) through a diffuser as eyes just take light and throw it out looking better and sparklier ;)

Julian....boy !! You are gonna have so much fun with the D300. I like natural light, say from a window but not direct sunlight into the subjects face. I like to try and get a catchlight in the eye. I'd suggest longish focal length, wide open. Adjust ISO to get a low as possible shutter, maybe as low as1/60th.
These situations make good use of a reflector. Use the time till you get your hands on the D300 to observe her and see if you get the lighting and pose sorted so you'll have a good idea where to start.
Have fun mate, you're gonna love it.

i took this last year with a macro lens and flash - just hand held - the problem is the reflection of the kit - not to sure how to get rid of this  - exif is intact

natural light i good, but ignore all that he just said about iso, a 1/60th second close up of an eye will have camera shake and subject blur. Up the iso to get the shutter speed where it needs to be
