I haven't asked you to justify anything. You used a word that is a recognised swearword and you used spaces to bypass the swear filter. If someone then reports that post then, as per forum rules, we remove the word and post a reminder or give an infraction. Just because you don't personally find the word offensive, it should be allowed?

This is getting silly now. Why don't we all have a cyber-pint and sit down to talk about politics or religion, anything to stop us arguing about photography.
If this had been in the 'real' world I suspect it would have never got to this stage so why have we allowed ourselves to be dragged down this road.

People within the Film and Conventional section tend to stay within this section, I don't see the problem of people with the attitude that film is superior. Just look at how many posts there are about the demise of film in other non-film sections and you could say it works both ways.

It's been said that this section needs little or no moderation and yet there are 3 different moderators currently dealing with this thread (overkill?). I'm not at all offended by swearing but obviously someone took offence and reported the post in question. I really fail to see what the massive drama is about someone "bypassing" the swear filter :shrug:.

There is a superiority complex with regards to film form some of the members and if they feel that way it is up to them. But it's no different to the superiority complex exhibited by many digital users, the difference is because people see it less from film users it is noticed more.

You created a completely fictitious 'attitude' and shoe-horned everyone on the board to fit it, in spite of the fact every F&C camera shot was taken by a member on a digital camera. I called you on it because you were wrong, as you were about 'superiority'. I'd suggest your own attitudes to different technology and its users need some attention.
As you say, civility costs nothing and control freakery will get you nowhere.

Not in the slightest. As I said earlier I had used film for over 40 years (not bad for a 50 year old).

I don't post to troll or stir, just discuss opinions and learn. I have no particular preference for media or brand and stay impartial that way.

I'm just disappointed to see someone who as a result of his accident has a lot of time to kill, treated so badly when asking a simple question, by another member. It was rude and completely unnecessary.

If I see something in another section I feel to be wrong I'll point that out too.

Well - posting this after also asking this could well pre-dispose people to think that someone was on the trawl... Personally, I HAVE read both threads that these questions came from, and I don't actually think there was any wind-up intended, though sadly, and certainly at the time I did bite myself.

Nelson Mandela would be the first to admit he's a terrorist, but he has moved beyond his history (as has Lynton btw), not that I think it has anything to do with this situation... you know nothing of what has gone before and yet feel able to make judgements - you are doomed to failure from the start.

Secondly - for crying out loud, this section gets the same degree of moderation as anywhere else, and as Dod has already said, is lucky that in general you are self moderating and therefore see less of us, so I don't really see what you problem is? if there are problems, or you want something doing [positive] rtm it or use the pm system, otherwise, get out of here, stop wasting electrons on a pointless argument and take some pictures!

I did pre-judge, I admit - hence the "sadly" in my comment. FWIW, I'm happy Lynton comes in here, and that he's in the process of trying shooting film - and if you again refer to the whole thread you will see that it was in part my answer that gave him a bit of an insight into what we see in shooting film.

Lynton: I'm sorry that I assumed that you were on a wind-up mission - i'm happy that my answer (at least the non-sarcstic bits of it) worked for you - and I apologise for raking things over again by quoting posts - however it was simply for the benefit of old PsiFox here, who due to his state of advanced decrepitude (50 years before the mast, i've still got all me own teef you know....) seems unable to do his own research into a topic, yet still feels qualified to have a pop at people who were there as it happened!

I mean how far does it go. Can only a Nikon owning mod act on Nikon threads. As I said before most moderation is a attitude/content type of work no specialist knowledge required. Rest of the time the RTM from users points it out.

None of my replies have been rude or personal unlike some to me but hey that's life and i won't be throwing the proverbial mannequinn out of the infant mobility device. i just accept things and move on.

Now can we all be nice and enjoy photography whether with a sensor or film which could be called an analogue sensor anyway

No, it was not - it was Ujjwal saying that yes, he would take some time off. And has. Got naff all to do with "blatant defiance and brinkmanship" - but then you - like everyone else with a judgement - do not know him, eh? Still feel qualified to judge though - and that is where the problems start.
