Real nice set there, great shots !!!!
Thanks
Awesome set, I don't know how the wife is going to take my weekend entertainment suggestions from now on... I can't wait to get back out to an event after my first taste on Saturday!
Its addictive! Just dont let her see the credit card bills...
That's a stunning set of photos, well done!
Thanks!
stunning set, im always super impressed with your photos
Thats very kind
Some really great shots there love the mustang flames both side`s
Yup, thats a personal favourite!
Oh, very nice indeed. Knock my poor efforts into a cocked hat! Chappie in the black mustang must've run out of fuel, wasn't belching much fire at today's event.
Cheers, Both the Mustang shots were taken on monday. Perhaps i just got lucky
Some nice shots in the set.Number 8 being my favourite. Not too keen on the panning shots. For some reason my eyes have a real dislike to parralax motion in that kind of shot.I love panned shots but like to see the whole car sharp, not just a small piece of it.I must have binned 20000 motorsport pics over the years showing this effect. From all the comments above it looks like I'm in the minority on that one.
Cheers
Gary
Cheers, As you say its quite an individual thing, personally it doesnt bother me on the slower/wide shutter speed shots. Although the mini shot i agree should be sharp on the front wing, not rear quarter. But i wanted to show a shot which gave an idea of how hard this guy was driving. Photography took a bit of a backseat on that one.
Surely you only get the whole car in focus when it's dead parallel to you though? So only side one shots, when they're at an angle you get the "slice" of car in focus effect? I've only done this once but that is what I found. If I'm missing something I'm all ears
True, a faster shutter speed lessens this as the car rotates on its axis less during the exposure. You can also up the aperture, this helps to a point, but the car is still rotating during the exposure, so its always going to throw some parts of the car out.
Superb set
shot 1 for me.
Clive
Thanks Clive!
Looks like you had a lot of fun there Nick!
I can't believe it was dry... I am still wringing out the water from my gear!
#7, #8 (people shots, my fave!) are damned good and #13 is classy but #10 I think I like a lot - which is odd for me, but the composition, the car itself and the chuffing great big flammenwerfer is really rather good indeed.
Right, I'm off to drip more water into my keyboard...
Thanks mate, yes was a lovely day, especially on monday. I Look forward to seeing your weekends efforts!
Magnificent shots - and the flames on the Mustang is a great capture.
Would you mind sharing what settings were used, and which lens etc? I've done a fair bit of panning but never as successfully as this, where they have the slightly blurred / out of focus effect without being too blurred (if you see what I mean!). Particularly interested in shutter speed and the technique you used to defocus parts of the car.
I'm more than happy to share settings, however its probably easiest if you take them yourself. If you get an Exif reader then the images should still have all the Data intact. If they dont let me know and i will put up some details. You could also have a look at my flickr as they have Exif detail on the shots.
Stunning, simply stunning. In a few of the shots I would prefer more of the car in focus but that is simply nitpicking.
Thanks, This sounds like a common point - one to watch in future
Awesome set, my favourites are the flaming Mustang and 14 (love those kind of shots)
Cheers!
Fantastic images. I was there on the Monday. Good to see some proper angry sounding race cars.
Haven't checked out what I've got yet. Need to get to my computer at my parents house that has all my stuff on it.
The Williams V10 sounded glorious. There was only one batmobile out on Monday, which upset me. The three others had managed to break on the Sunday apparently.
My main reason for going was to find something to mount on my (currently completely bare) wall.
I couldn't agree more. Loved the weekend. A nice change from the modern cars, and 4 cylinder engines. Bring back V8's and V10's!
Fantastic set. Really hard to choose a favourite, I like them all but #1, 4, 6, 8 and 14 are really superb.
Thanks very much!
Every single one, superb!
Cheers!
Very very very nice no12 being a favourite. I'm shivering alll over........
Thanks, never had that response before lol
I love them, how refreshing to see something different and a bit more risky, really good Nick, they work for me .15,2,and 3 for me.
Thanks buddy, different is what i aim to be!
I'd say some of them are definitely sharp in the wrong places but I love #9 and #11.
Cheers, Which are the images you think are sharp in the wrong places. Where would you place the sharp spot?
Stunning shots, love them all
Cheers!
you might call em touring cars but in my day we called em saloon cars ... Old Bloke reminiscing.
Good set Nick with some great captures on the Saloon cars.
You up at Oulton for the BTCC?
Thanks mate, Just reading the broschure, they were pre 66 tourers apparently. Well before my time so i will bow to your wisdom!
Yes, at Oulton sat lunch to end of sunday. Driving up with Steve (gribbsy). See you there!
"far from you're best" ... mmm I think this is a cracking set mate. A few interesting and low angles going on and good use of the shutter speed when needed
Just a question about the resolution, these seem taller than normal, is that the native resolution (ratio) of you're camera or intentional cropping? Just wondered.
Thanks dude, same aspect ratio as always. I always crop to 5x7, as its near as damn it A4 ratio and i have a customer that only accepts this ratio. It also keeps it simple for sales on the website.
A superb set. No 3 is my favourite.
Thanks Scott
