So I figure that you will probably tell me what I already know but maybe it will work as a cautionary tale and maybe even brighten up someones day.
So last week I was out taking photos of the youth group on an low ropes course (fantastic source of models btw) and the bright sun and action was giving me some fantastic shots on my p&s whilst I was trying to get one particular shot I tripped over a support wire and landed on the front of the camera. There was a small bit if grit right on the glass at the front and the zoom wad ...sticking so I cleaned it as best as possible but there are deep scratches along the outer metal on one tier. The zoom seems fine now after attacking with a toothpick The auto focus seems slow now and there is blurring around the edges of my photos, guessing I've knocked something and its slightly broken. I cant afford to replace it as I'm doing a years voluntary work out in South Africa with kids and youth, AIDS awareness and drugs stuff, and its my only camera. So any ideas on what I might be able to do?
By the way I still have the photo I was trying to take when I tripped, its something of an action shot...in that the photographer was moving and the shot of a still subject is blurred...but it tells me a story so I like it.
Would caution people, specially with equipment more expensive than mine to take care where they are putting their feet, specially when lots of excitement is going on and if they do fall, lens first might be a bad idea.
