Yes
im sure those of you on facebook have seen the status changes about cartoon characters and child abuse.

Just read this link and smiled, particularly the quote:

We spoke to a non-moron who said, “If you really want to help stop child abuse, how about you spend five minutes away from looking at photos of your ex-girlfriend online and write a cheque to the NSPCC instead, hmm?

I really dont see how changing a little picture on a website helps anyone..
Still, all the sheep on my friends list have still done it...
Strange times we live in.

Apparently this is a scam by paedos and is to be featured on tv some time tonight, so I am led to believe

Taken from the NSPCC facebook page.

NSPCC A warm welcome to all our cartoon friends! We are incredibly grateful for your support to end cruelty to children in the UK. Although the NSPCC did not originate the childhood cartoon Facebook campaign, we welcome the attention it has brought to the work we do. If you would like to find out more about how you can get involved, please visit our website.

So it has had some benefit ! Plus i cant see how changing your picture to a cartoon character can interest Paedophiles ! Unless its a new cartoon fancying faction !

It's supposed to make kids more likely to accept the friend requests of dodgy characters if they have a cartoon picture as their display picture. Supposedly. But that's even less believable than the original NSPCC chain message and I'm surprised at how much the thing has caught on.

As it is, I don't see the harm in loads of people changing their display pictures to cartoons (about from probable copyright infringement) and it has certainly got people talking about the NSPCC which is always welcomed.

if they took facebook offline then i would happily donate a nice sum to the nspcc
i bloody hate the thing

Ah right, hadnt even thought of it like that ! I guess its possible, but like you say, its not so likely.

Definitely good to get people talking about it though !

It's like all the other things that people copy and paste, though I did put banana man up for the day I didn't see the harm, and I made a small donation. How many of you miserable gits moaning about it got their wallets out?

part of my point in the other thread. my other point was that id suggest that 99% of people only changed it to keep in with their friends and thought about children for about 1/1000th.

(and yes we did get our wallet out)

and as for the p**** thing.. seriously? some people believe everything they read on the internet.
