Fan Error

Tried switching on my old laptop. "Fan Error" appeared briefly on the screen, and then it switch itself off again. I accept that at ten years old iand heavily used, t's ready to be retired, but is there any way I can get it operating long enough to copy the remaining useful files from its hard drive?

It’ll be easier to remove the Hdd and use a usb caddy / adapter. Or if you have a desktop use a spare sata channel and just put the disk in and copy from there

Try a blast of compressed air from a can - might decoke the fan enough that it can spin... Or take the drive out and use a USB/SATA adaptor
