Farnes or Skomer

Hi everybody, cannot make up my mind which one of these islands to visit so I'm wanting anybody thats been for their veiws.Which one did you think was best for overall puffin photography and photography in general,is there for's or against any island in particular for example cost,time spent on the island and accessiblity.I live in Doncaster but not realy bothered that one is nearer than the other just want to go whats considered the best place,will be going to whichever in the next month or so. thanks

weather permiting they are both good but i would go for the farnes. On the all day bird watching trip with Billy Shiels 2hrs on Staple island and 2 hrs on inner farne. On staple island just as you get off boat on the left you will always find puffins with beaks full of sand eels. another place about 50 yards away is some steps going down you can get some good images from there as well have a look in my gallery.
Inner farne a 2 good places there are one to the left of the lighthouse on the rock stacks viewing area really good for puffins in flight (wind in the right direction) then foll ow the path straight past lighthouse and on the right you can get puffins in the burrows and again good for flight shots

Don't forget the artic terns & sandwich terns they are both worth a few frames

I have to admit to some bias here as I'm from County Durham so I'm familar with the Farnes area.

Therefore, I would say Farnes, wouldn't I? However, apart from the birds the Northumberland coast is spectacular with lots of other photo opportunities eg Bamburgh castle, or even better IMO, Dunstanburgh and Lindisfarne. There is also the RSPB reserve at Coquet Island.

Only just seen this. I think for a day trip, Farnes for me. Guillemot colonies are well worth a visit as well as the puffins and terns.

Not been to the Farnes so unfair to judge the two. Same goes for anyone else... you can only judge if you've been to both places.

The Farnes I am betting are superb, as is Skomer superb.
