Hi All,

Having seen previous similar requests moved to this area of TP thought I would add my own request for help.

Having had a bit of crap luck recently, especially having to dip out of the dales weekend that Les McLean kindly organised, I have 2 days of holiday at the end of this week.

I am planning to make a day trip to the lakes and would like to know peoples favourite lakes location - preferably with a sample shot and either postcode or GPS location.

I plan on spending a full day there - getting up at stupid o'clock for about a 2.5 hour drive there, staying all day til sunset, and a 2.5 hour drive home.

The only caveat is that there must be plenty of coffee shops to feed my Latte habit :D

TIA

Have several depends on your fitness (mine is weak lol) but Ullswater from half way round the Pooley bridge side at sunset (there is alovely farm with a great jetty) ...Aira Force again Ullswater area (done to death unless you head farther upstream where there is a really nice second falls with a cove drop) silver head etc etc etc .... Honiston Pass (park in the Quarry walk up highter(fair climb) and bingo people head over to Haystacks but a lower walk will give you specaular view down Buttermere, Crummock Water , and Lowes Water ... get it right all three with Sunset .. WOW ! Crummock water also has scale force I think it is which is nice ... to be honest there are sooo many it depends on what you are after Derwent has so many to offer in itself .... my advice google can be your friend... try not to shoot the usual stone circle (great but again done to death.... bridge at Derwent old *yawns* done to death ashness we have so so much to tog so little time... my advice long weekend it if not then Derwent and venture a touch .... am sooo tempted to start a walking togging group up here

as some below have the shots l;et me explain Buttermere is lovely .. very VERY photogenic but get a few walkers a nightmare of cloning ! one day then I strongly suggest the Honister pass and Buttermere Crummock Water routs walk round buttermere or stay close to edge and then p[ark up by fish inn and up to Scale force for nice water fall... back to car and fish supper... Ullswater (less peeps) then you have the boathouse near Pooley bridge at sunrise. the whole lake to wander round (buses from Pooley to Patterdale and Vice Versa... Aira FOrce and day gone .. Honister park at Pull in near top you have the whole of the stream for nice smooth water down toward the borrowdale side... walks up and over tops of Buttermere views are outstanding (only know as went sansa camera gear for weights sake) and then drop down into the Buttermere , Crummock water are a... back along the back road to Keswick is also lovely views wise
