file numbering

Hi all
I accidentally reset the file numbering is there any way i can get it back?, it was at IMG_0248

I do not think there is but what is the reason you want it back??
On my 50D it goes up to 9999 then back to zero anyways, so it will not tell you 100% how many pics the camera has taken, also if you use different memory cards then the count will change(do not know the exact science to this but it did on mine) Mine before it went over 9999 said I had a shutter count of say 9765 when in reality on a shutter count program I had only a shutter count of say 7634.

You could try this:

Make sure you have changed the setting to use continuous numbering.
Take an image on the camera.
On your computer (using a card reader), rename the file to 'IMG_0248.xxx (xxx = jpg or cr2).
Put the card back in the camera and shoot some more.

It may work...


EDIT:
You will probably have to rename the folder on the card as well to: '102CANON' (without the quotes)

on the menu i cant find how to create a new folder, or is it stairing me in the face
